Qatar Investment Authority is the second largest shareholder of Credit Suisse.

As it turned out, the Qatar Investment Authority rose to the position of the second-largest shareholder at the end of last year after tripling its holding in the struggling Swiss bank Credit Suisse. A report submitted to the US Securities and Exchange Commission contains this information.

QIA — Around the time of the financial crisis, Qatar's sovereign wealth fund started making investments in Credit Suisse. The National Bank of Saudi Arabia acquired 9.9% of the bank's shares last year as part of a $4.2 billion capital raising to support a significant strategic reorganization of the lender. Its current ownership of 6.8% of the bank's shares places it second only to that amount.

Although Credit Suisse has not yet released its fourth-quarter earnings, ongoing restructuring is already expected to result in a loss of 1.5 billion Swiss francs. The restructuring is intended to get rid of the banking investment division's pervasive inefficiencies as well as several issues with risks and non-compliance with regulatory standards.

In a recent speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, CEO Ulrich Kerner stated that the bank had achieved headway in its transition and significantly reduced client churn.

Premarket

After the firm released mixed results for the fourth quarter of 2022, Verizon's share prices dropped by 1.51%. Although the earnings exceeded expectations, it was not enough.

Despite the retailer's warning of impending insolvency, Bed Bath & Beyond's stocks increased by 5.78% on the strength of a remarkable start to the year. Shares of Bed Bath & Beyond have risen 17.1% since the start of the year.

The drugmaker Johnson & Johnson's stock increased somewhat in premarket trade following the release of its mixed quarterly financial results. Johnson & Johnson outperformed forecasts, according to Refinitiv. The yearly profit forecast exceeded expectations by a small margin, while the sales forecast was accurate.

After JPMorgan changed its rating from "hold" to "buy," noting that the investment management firm is a "best-in-class" corporation prepared for a gentle landing, Blackstone securities increased by 1.3%.

Following the release of Lockheed Martin's most recent quarterly results, the company's stock increased by 1.52%. The military company's revenue was $18.99 billion, exceeding analysts' expectations of $18.27 billion. The earnings per share for Lockheed also exceeded forecasts.

After Bernstein lowered the manufacturer's rating, the shares of AMD, a semiconductor manufacturer, dropped by more than 2% in the premarket.

Regarding the S&P 500's technical picture, the scenario is still favorable to buyers. The index may continue to rise, but to do so, the support level of 3,986 must be maintained. Returning $4,010 under control will be the bulls' equally important responsibility. Only then can we anticipate a stronger upward move with a $4,038 strengthening of the trading instrument. The $4,064 level is a little higher; it will be challenging to surpass it. Buyers are only required to declare themselves in the vicinity of $3,960 in the event of a downward movement and a lack of support at $3,986. The trading instrument will be immediately driven to $3,923 upon its breakdown.
